If you’re in Vancouver Feb 28, then this might be for you:

I’m holding a “Step Into Spring” art event Sunday, Feb 28 from 3:30-6:30, in Studio B upstairs in the Carousel Theatre on Granville Island. I’m selling several of my paintings, from small 5″x 7″ paintings to 24″ x 30″, all on the theme of spring. The painting below is an example of the style of this work. There will also be an activity table for you to try your hand at some easy painting techniques and perhaps create a small spring themed greeting card.

Paintings begin at $25 for the small ones, then go to $50, $150, $300 and $500. Creating something to take home at the activity table is by donation. Children accompanied by an adult are welcome. Bring a friend!

Please come. It will be fun!!!!!!

Dear Readers,

I was so pleased with my first art exhibit in Vancouver. If any of you out there are considering exhibiting, I highly recommend starting on a level you’re comfortable with, such as in a cafe or bookstore, as the experience is so rewarding. It’s fun to host a party where people say nice things to you about your work or at least about your effort if your work is not their style. And you learn many of the steps you will need to know later on if you ever exhibit in a gallery, making that experience less frightening. It’s good to get out of your comfort zone and take steps forward!

Successful “Spring Into Life” art exhibit last Sunday!

Dear Reader,

This was my first art exhibit in Vancouver since returning to BC in 2012. My paintings are hanging at a neighborhood hair salon that shows different artists’ work for 2-3 months at a time. The two friendly owners of Volution Salon, Jen and Krissy, were a great support and gracious hosts. I think everyone enjoyed the art, food, wine and company of family and friends. I even sold two paintings! Very exciting. Here are a few photos. “Spring Into Life” exhibit is on until April 9. (Yes, it’s okay to come in and look around at the art, even when someone is getting their hair done!)

I’m back in Canada after my wonderful trip to Thailand, and I’ve been working on my current art exhibit, “Spring Into Life”. The exhibit features both realistic representations of nature in oil on canvas and intuitive paintings using tempera paint on paper.
