Here’s a retrospective of the 2025 Vancouver En Plein Air Painter’s Meetup, a painting group I created after joining an en plein air painting course in Cortona, Italy in September of 2023. Our meetup group started painting in the Greater Vancouver parks in April of 2024.

Join us if you’re in the area. You’ll find us on the Meetup Platform, or search our name online for “The Vancouver En Plein Air Painters”. Enjoy the photos!

Our meetup painting events in photos:

October 5, 2026 False Creek

We painted on a chilly, sunny day at Charleson Park and Leg in Boot Square, False Creek. It was so chilly, our fingers got cold and we then followed the sun to meet up with more of our painters. A very pleasant afternoon.

October 13, 2026 Stanley Park

Painting in this beautiful October sunshine at Stanley Park. Some of us wandered off to the tone and pulls others went to the lighthouse or painted the view across the harbor. Such fun to meet someone from a Washington Painting group as well and invite them to paint with us.

October 26, 2025 Van Dusen Botanical Gardens

Myself and two friends met at the gardens for a chilly, but really nice painting session. We enjoyed being out and about at Van Dusen and painting together.

November 2nd and 8th 2025, English Bay

The Sylvia Hotel, an iconic sight in Vancouver. The beautifully coloured autumn trees along the beach provided for two, shall we say refreshing, painting days. It was cold, it was cloudy, but we were blessed with a few sunny breaks. Luckily, a few of my friends joined me for these two painting sessions at the Sylvia.

And that’s a wrap for 2025 with the Vancouver En Plein Air Painters Meetup!

Embracing the rain!

When painting en plein air, it’s probably best to embrace the weather rather than complain about it! I’m sure there are limits to this, but I find being outdoors in the rain much more inspiring than sitting at home wishing it wasn’t so grey out.

I’ve had several inspiring days painting solo or with my group this October and early November. The fall colours are so inspiring!

I was invited to lead a group for the Opus Plein Air Painting Adventures!

Over 30 people joined me on Granville Island for one of the Plein Air Painting Adventures hosted by Opus Art Supplies. Many of us painted at Ron Basford Park, while others wandered to other locations on the island to paint or sketch. The weather cooperated and it was a great way to spend the morning.

What a lovely day that was! Sunshine, a pleasant temperature, no rain, a beautiful place with a variety of painting sites to choose from and lovely guest artists!

Just a reminder about the amazing painting holiday to Corfu, Greece that I’m leading in October, if you’re interested, please contact me asap. I’m looking for 6 more people to make this event work for this year. As we need to book the accommodation ahead of time, I’d like to know your interest level as soon as possible, preferably before July. See my page, “Painting Holiday in Corfu” at the top of the website. Thank you!

I had fun painting in Italy last September…

So I created the Vancouver En Plein Air Painting meetup in Vancouver…

Next, I’m going to Greece to paint. Want to join me on the beautiful island of Corfu for a painting holiday October 7-14, 2024? 8 days, 7 nights, all inclusive for 2900 euros. Sound good? Check out my page above on the “Painting Holiday in Corfu” to get all the details.

You could be painting these scenes next October!

And staying in this beautiful modern villa in the countryside…

Check out my page on the Corfu trip or email me at maryancerina.artist@gmail.com for more information.

Love to have you join me!

If you’re in Vancouver Feb 28, then this might be for you:

I’m holding a “Step Into Spring” art event Sunday, Feb 28 from 3:30-6:30, in Studio B upstairs in the Carousel Theatre on Granville Island. I’m selling several of my paintings, from small 5″x 7″ paintings to 24″ x 30″, all on the theme of spring. The painting below is an example of the style of this work. There will also be an activity table for you to try your hand at some easy painting techniques and perhaps create a small spring themed greeting card.

Paintings begin at $25 for the small ones, then go to $50, $150, $300 and $500. Creating something to take home at the activity table is by donation. Children accompanied by an adult are welcome. Bring a friend!

Please come. It will be fun!!!!!!
