I did it! I prepared all of my paintings at home, brought them to Opus Arts on Granville Island in the morning to complete the framing, then had them hung in the window at Vancity Credit Union on Robson and Denman, Vancouver , Canada on Dec 4! The exhibit ends early March. Take a look if you’re in the area. All paintings are for sale. Prices are $250 to $650, framed.

When painting en plein air, it’s probably best to embrace the weather rather than complain about it! I’m sure there are limits to this, but I find being outdoors in the rain much more inspiring than sitting at home wishing it wasn’t so grey out.

I’ve had several inspiring days painting solo or with my group this October and early November. The fall colours are so inspiring!

Thank you for following me over the past two years.

This print is of a watercolour painting I did while living in Bangkok, Thailand. I became fascinated with lotus flowers while there, they’re so beautiful and such an important part of Thai culture. While walking in Bangkok’s largest park, Lumpini Park, I came across a small pond with a tangle of lotuses. I snapped a photo and then painted this in the studio of my artist friend and mentor, Russell Fadavi. I made several prints to give away to family and just came across my last remaining print. Dear Readers,

I’m so happy to be able to share my recent Home and Garden Portrait with you.  It was commissioned as a birthday surprise for a friend, so I had to wait to post this photo until the painting had been delivered.  The home owner was delighted by the gift.  She just loves it.

This was quite a complex painting to do as there are so many stairs, balconies, railings and roof lines to keep track of. I worked from a composite photograph of six photos, taken from the neighbour’s balcony, a point of view the home owner doesn’t normally see. I wanted to highlight the turret and the new copper roof, which will only look this colour for a period of time before it slowly turns black and eventually green. This painting captures a moment in time and highlights the home’s unique features as well as the outdoor areas where family and friends spend much of their time.
