Dear Reader,

It’s been so long since I last posted.  I’ve been very busy this fall with teaching painting to both children and adults.  I’m happy to be able to teach at a variety of community locations where I meet wonderful people, but most of all I love to teach in my home studio! I offer both a painting class for beginners where people complete an acrylic painting on canvas and the Intuitive Painting workshops.  Very different styles of art making, but all fun. I’m so proud of my students!

Dear Reader,

Look at who appeared on my paper recently. “Entertaining Possibilities” seems to be thinking outside the box.  “Jumping Into Being” began as a few smears and smudges of paint and then seemed to want to “become”, as though jumping from behind the colours and onto the paper.  So much fun to paint from an intuitive place. I get the sense that I’m peering into another world for a moment, a magical world where anything is possible.

Dear Readers,

I’m so happy to be able to share my recent Home and Garden Portrait with you.  It was commissioned as a birthday surprise for a friend, so I had to wait to post this photo until the painting had been delivered.  The home owner was delighted by the gift.  She just loves it.

This was quite a complex painting to do as there are so many stairs, balconies, railings and roof lines to keep track of. I worked from a composite photograph of six photos, taken from the neighbour’s balcony, a point of view the home owner doesn’t normally see. I wanted to highlight the turret and the new copper roof, which will only look this colour for a period of time before it slowly turns black and eventually green. This painting captures a moment in time and highlights the home’s unique features as well as the outdoor areas where family and friends spend much of their time.

Successful “Spring Into Life” art exhibit last Sunday!

Dear Reader,

This was my first art exhibit in Vancouver since returning to BC in 2012.  My paintings are hanging at a neighborhood hair salon that shows different artists’ work for 2-3 months at a time. The two friendly owners of Volution Salon, Jen and Krissy, were a great support and gracious hosts. I think everyone enjoyed the art, food, wine and company of family and friends. I even sold two paintings! Very exciting. Here are a few photos.  “Spring Into Life” exhibit is on until April 9. (Yes, it’s okay to come in and look around at the art, even when someone is getting their hair done!)

Dear Reader,

I’m so delighted to be visiting Bangkok, the city I lived and worked in from 1999-2012. I was a teacher and administrator at an international school for 13 years, and I enjoyed living an adventurous life in Asia.  Now I’m back and I’m bringing my Intuitive Painting Workshop to Bangkok.

“This workshop is all about helping you reconnect to your innately creative spirit. Let the lush colours of paint, the brushes and the paper invite you to explore a new way of painting.
